While many of you will be enjoying the sunshine, maybe sitting in the park with an ice cream, MFM was on a mission to see what Waitrose’s Christmas press show had to offer.
We love our food, and know that one of the major perks of the festive season is pigging out on sweet treats, minus the guilt. It is Christmas after all! So check out our pick of Waitrose’s tasty nibbles we think you’ll love to serve up to your brood.
What we loved…
The supermarket never disappoints on deliciousness, but we wanted to find out what will make them stand out from their competitors.
After a LOT of taste testing, here are our thoughts…
If you have an artistic tot, she’ll love building a yummy Gingerbread Cookie Tree, £5, or sprinkling Santa Xmas Sugar Decorations, £2, on homemade cupcakes. Not only can she get involved in the kitchen, but it’ll keep nosey fingers away from your secret present stash.
Family members who love a tipple (does a certain aunt spring to mind?), are in for a treat with Waitrose’s Wine Crackers, £25 for a box of 6. Each cracker is packed with wine-related trivia and comes with either a corkscrew or bottle stopper. Wine lovers eat your heart out!
No Christmas Day is complete without a roasted bird and the superstore’s vast range won’t disappoint. We particularly loved the Free Range Turkey with Clementine Glaze, £50, Free Range Goose, £11.29, and sweet-smelling Roasted Chicken (price to be confirmed). Mmmmm!
Chocoholics look away now! Waitrose’s Malteasers Ball is a funky take on the traditional Christmas pudding and is completely made of, you guessed it, Malteasers! They had a special super-size one for us to try (we have no shame, and dived straight in), but there’ll be smaller ones in store December for just £14.95. We can’t wait!
If you’re a fan of unusual festive decorations, invest in Heston’s Christmas Cake, £19.99, as your dining table centrepiece. Stuffed with dark chocolate and brandy goodness, this rich treat is the perfect after dinner desert.
Finally, Waitrose’s gorgeous ‘Forget Me Not Range’ is a lifesaver if you’re struggling to find Nana that “special” gift. With gardening tools, notepads, and funky kitchen utensils for under a tenner, you can splash out on the important lady in your life without breaking the bank. Kids will jump for joy when they see a Gruffalo Money Box, £9, or Little Men & Little Miss Wash Kit, £12, in their stocking.
Keep an eye out for these tasty bites to make your meal extra special:
- Stolen Bites, £2.99
- Prawn & Salmon Dip Platter, £6.99
- Stuffing Balls, £3.19
- Seafood Platter, £8.99
The downside of the press show? MFM was so full afterwards it was hard walking back to the office.
