Singer Amy Winehouse was reportedly in the process of adopting a 10-year-old girl from the Caribbean island of St.Lucia, before she passed away, according to the sources at Showbiz Spy.
The 27-year-old singer, who was tragically found dead in her London home last week, was allegedly planning to become a mum to little girl Dannika Augustine, whom she met last year during her lengthy stay in the Caribbean.
“Amy was already my mother,” Dannika has said. “I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her,” Dannika revealed.
The tragic singer was rumoured to be travelling to St.Lucia to visit Dannika’s family in two weeks to continue the adoption process.
“Amy wanted to have a child so bad. If she had not died, there is no doubt she would be here in St.Lucia completing the adoption process,” Dannika’s grandmother Majorie Lambert has said. Majorie also revealed that Dannika’s biological mum wanted Amy to adopt her daughter because she couldn’t afford to bring her up alone as a single mum.
“Amy used to beg me, ‘I want to adopt Dannika. I want to take her to England.’ She was prepared to move to St.Lucia to be her full-time mum,” Majorie continued.”I was expecting her here next week. I couldn’t believe it when my friend in London told me she had died.”
