So a dinner date might not be everyone's choice just 10 days after giving birth, but Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend probably had no idea their meal out would cause quite such a hoo-ha.

The trouble all started when the couple - who had their first baby, Luna Simone, just two weeks ago - were spotted heading into The Nice Guy restaurant in LA on Saturday night.

As soon as the pics of their trip appeared online, the Twittersphere went all social services on them, totally calling them out on their parenting prowess.

'Wow who do u really trust with your week old baby. Ain’t nothing that important that u have to go out,' asked one commenter, while another chipped in with a sarcastic: 'The spotlight pull be strong. One week. Who wants to leave a one week old baby to go to a bar?'

As you'd expect from our Chrissy, she didn't take the criticism lying down, and was quick to respond to her detractors the following morning, tweeting: 'I went to dinner, people are pissed. Good morning!'

And she had one very pithy reply for a fan who tweeted asking how Luna was doing the following day:

'I dunno, I can’t find her'.

While we know a dinner date wouldn't be on everyone's agenda so soon after having a baby (to be fair, we were still at the leaky, tearful, tearing-our-hair out stage 10 days post-partum) we can't help but think that Chrissy has been a bit picked on over all this.

Surely she and John are the best people to make the call on what's best for Luna? And popping out for a bite to eat while your newborn is with a sitter is hardly parenting crime of the century, is it? What do you think?
