Women are getting more beautiful – which leads to more children!

Female beauty is on the up, meaning more births and more girls

Women blessed with good looks are more likely to give birth – and to girls, a study has revealed

Attractive women are gradually winning what scientists call the evolutionary ‘beauty race,’ making them more likely to give birth than less glam women. They’re also more likely to be girls too.

The pattern than repeats itself as the daughters also tend to be gorgeous, leading to women becoming steadily more beautiful over the generations, according to the study by Markus Jokela from the University of Helsinki.

So for example,  Jerry Hall’s two daughters Elizabeth and Georgia Jagger are both models and let’s not forget Yasmin Le Bon and daughter Amber, a swimwear model.

The study was based on 1,244 women and 997 men who were studied for four decades. Their attractiveness was judged by photographs and the recordings of the number of children they had during this time. They found that attractive women had 16% more children and the very attractive had 6% more children than those thought to be less attractive. It was also discovered that the beauties were 36% more likely to have a daughter, than a son.

But where does this leave men in the evolutionary ‘race’? According to the study, the beauty gap between men and women is growing, with women becoming ever more attractive than men. In terms of looks at least, it seems men have not moved on much from their caveman ancestors!
