World’s most premature baby finally goes home with parents

Born weighing just 1lb, baby Frieda is going home with mum and dad


Premature baby Frieda Mangold was born at just 21 weeks, weighing a tiny 1lb and measuring at just 11inches. Her twin brother, Kilian, died six weeks after their birth due to complications, but baby Frieda has survived and has now been able to go home with her mum and dad.


“We are overjoyed. But the happiness feels strange, as we are sad at the same time. Kilian is in our thoughts every day,” said new parents Yvonne and John Mangold, reported Fulder newspaper.

Frieda, born at Fulda Children’s Hospital, Germany, now weighs 7lb 11oz at almost 6 months of age.
