The mission statement of Chicco, the versatile and reliable Italian baby care brand, is “Happiness is a journey that starts when you’re a baby”. There’s no doubt that babies aren’t going to be the only ones that are happy with the Multiway Evo, a stylish, sturdy and incredibly good-value stroller. At £159, this is certainly at the lower end of the price range for similar products on the market at the moment, but the reduced cost doesn’t mean it compromises on quality.

What we loved

The Multiway Evo is much bigger and sturdier than I was anticipating and it certainly feels much better made than most strollers. The handles are set higher than many other pushchairs which is a definite plus for taller parents like myself. The seat unit was lovely and spacious even with my 15kg toddler in there and I would definitely recommend this pushchair as being suitable for bigger or older children who still need the use of a buggy.

This is not to say that the pushchair is only suitable for older children as my 3 month old was happy in the fully reclined position and with the footmuff it looks very cosy for a younger baby.

The Multiway Evo comes with four sets of double wheels which really made it feel sturdy and secure. My youngest is 3 months old, but I would have no qualms putting a newborn in there as it felt very safe. Despite the lower price tag, the Multiway Evo definitely doesn’t feel like a budget stroller.

The foldable bumper bar was a big hit for the toddler as he likes something to hold onto, and I felt safer popping him in and out without doing the 5 point harness as I know he won't go flying. He also loved the colour and kept asking for the green pushchair so it definitely has his seal of approval.

The shopping basket it a great size and easily accessible, which was a real bonus for me. We could really laden up the buggy with stuff and found that it was sturdy enough to not tip up once the toddler was removed. The raincover is also lovely and spacious and fits easily under the buggy without taking up too much space. The hood has integrated pockets for the parents and I really appreciated this feature for holding a phone or snack on the go.

The Multiway Evo coped well on different surfaces and didn't seem too bumpy a ride for the baby even through a park. The shock absorbers helped keep the seat stable. The long footrest is multifunctional and was perfect for my elder son, who is a bigger baby and needs full body support.

This really is a good value pushchair as it is suitable right from birth until the end of the pushchair days as it has such a generous seat. However, I would describe it more as a strong stroller rather than as a travel system as it is only forward facing, but it is definitely a step up from the other Chicco strollers on the market.

What to watch out for

Although it made the pushchair feel sturdy, having four sets of double wheels gave me a very wide turning circle and I didn't find it as easy to manouevre as I would have liked. I found that tight corners in particular were a bit of a struggle. Also, the handles are high and not adjustable, which may cause problems for shorter parents.

Who is the Multiway Evo best for?

I would recommend this pushchair to parents on a budget and those with larger children who are still dependant on a buggy as my eldest son, a bigger baby, has plenty of growing space left.
