7. Kent & Stowe Kids Digging Spade, £23.99

The head of the spade is made from stainless steel and the handle is hand crafted from ash wood.

There’s also a 15 year guarantee included, so it should be a long-term investment other children of the family can get use out of later on.

8. Briers Kids’ Junior Digger Orange & Blue Gloves, £3.25

This pair from gardening brand Briers are also bright blue and orange in colour, so they shouldn’t get lost in the grass if they’re dropped!

On Amazon, one parent of a 6 year old praised the “great quality and thickness” of the gloves which they said were useful while weeding.

“Particularly like the elasticated cuffs. I used them with a group of girls between 7 and 10 years old and they fitted most of them,” added another reviewer.
