Finding a great baby carrier can feel like hitting the jackpot! When you are in a rush to get out the house and want your little one attached to you, the last thing you want to be doing is fitting a wriggling baby into an uncomfortable and cumbersome piece of equipment.

The JPMBB PhysioCarrier is a revelation: it’s easy to use, has loads of great features and is very comfortable for everyone!

Je Porte Mon Bebe is a small and independent French baby-wearing brand, well known for their comfortable, ergonomic baby slings.

Retailing around the world, JPMBB are passionate about the concept of babywearing and alongside their products they trial babywearing instructors and offer tutorial videos for those who cannot attend workshops.

Launched in 2015, after 4 years in the making, the PhysioCarrier retails at around £100 and is going up against other carriers like the Dinky Dragon i-Angel hipseat carrier, Mountain Buggy Juno, Boba 4G and Connecta Baby Carrier.

You can buy the JPMBB carrier from JPMBB, Love To Be Natural or Carry My Baby.

First impressions?

As I unboxed the JPMBB PhysioCarrier, I thought ‘this feels like a really special item and one that a huge amount of design and testing has gone into’.

That’s because it has lots of little touches and features that makes it stand out from the incredibly crowded baby carrier market.

I used this item with my daughter Alice, who is 14 months. As well as the nursery run, my husband and I both used it on longer countryside walks, summer days out and trips to the shops.

One big downside to buying this carrier is that the instructions are in French, so I had to use my GSCE French, along with the diagrams to work out what I was doing!

How many seating options does the JPMBB PhysioCarrier have?

This carrier is extremely versatile and you can carry your child on the front, the side and the back, from birth to three years (3.5kg to 20kg).

For back carrying, your baby needs to be six months plus and able to sit up and support its head and neck.

Are there any additional accessories on the JPMBB PhysioCarrier?

Yes, the Extension pack. It allows the use of PhysioCarrier from birth with a newborn to around 18 months, depending on the size of your baby. It can also elevate babies once old enough to be carried on your back.

What is the JPMBB PhysioCarrier Extension pack?

je-porte-mon-bebe-physiocarrier_jpmbb1

It’s a booster seat cushion and neck pillow that’s designed to go under your baby’s bottom and around her neck. The seat cushion slips into a sleeve at the bottom to become an integral part of the carrier – and won’t pop or fall out!

This is much better than other ‘insert’ additions to these type of baby carriers because your child feels more secure and it does not affect breathability. It can also allow an older baby to see over your shoulder while being carried on your back – Alice loved this!

The removable padded collar or neck pillow can be adjusted to support a small neck, without pressure from direct contact with hemlines.

Alice didn’t need this feature but it feels like the brand really did think of everything when designing this item. The pack retail at around £12.

What do the side straps do?

The adjustable side straps have a number of uses, depending on your little one’s age. For a young baby it allows the front panel’s height and width to be adjusted, so their body can be held snugly, allowing them to curl up and stop the baby’s back doing into an “S” position.

For a baby from 10 months, it supports their bended knees and tilts the pelvis forward, giving them a wide and comfortable seat.

They also allow for an even weight distribution between the shoulders and belt – and if you would rather have the weight on you shoulders, then you can adjust them accordingly!

What is the 4 seasons thermos feature?

This does what it says – the material of the carrier allows for year-round use. The carrier is aerated with lightweight cushioning.

There is an opening at the back of the carrier, so the child’s back can be ventilated and hot or covered during cooler months. The transparent mesh also means you can see your baby’s position.

There is also a sleep hood in the same mesh – ideal for warm climates and summer days.

More carrier reviews

Is the carrier ergonomic?

Yes! Absolutely everything has been considered in the design of this product.

The seat is shaped not flat, putting your child in a seated position with lower back curled and knees drawn up or in the ‘frogy’ position, preventing the pelvis from being flattened.

This carrier follows all the official guidelines of babywearing, so your child is in their natural position and supported perfectly.

Is it comfortable?

This item was extremely comfortable for both Alice and I and we plan to use it a lot! It is light enough for warm weather but robust enough to feel that it will last over time.

How easy is it to put on and take off the JPMBB PhysioCarrier?

je-porte-mon-bebe-physiocarrier_jpmbb3

This carrier is very easy to put on when wearing it on the front but putting Alice on my back on my own took some practice but I got there!

I found it very comfortable – the waistband and shoulders are very well padded and are designed so it is easy to swing your arms and move freely while wearing it.

The waist band is thicker than most but I quite like the feeling of support! You can also cross the straps over when you have your child on your back. The straps were initially quite stuff but softened up with use.

Hoes does it compare to other carriers you used?

My previous carrier was an Ergobaby. The JPMBB PhysioCarrier is similar but I think an altogether better product, due to its versatility, style and additional features.

Is it easy to clean?

Yes and no. I don’t think it can be put in the washing machine but can easily be wiped clean.

Is it compact and easy to store?

Yes – it folded together quite small. The only thing is the accessories and if they are not within the carrier, I worry they would get lost!

Is the JPMBB PhysioCarrier value for money?

Yes, I think this is exceptional value for money for a product that will last you a long time and will be used day in and day out.

MadeForMums Verdict:

A brilliantly-designed bit of baby kit, this stylish carrier is perfect for all weathers and ideal for babies and toddlers, alike! If you’re not a fab of baby carriers, with this one, you’re guaranteed to be converted!

You can buy the JPMBB carrier from Vertbaudet, Love To Be Natural or Carry My Baby.
