Pros

  • Converts from pram to pushchair, forward and rear facing option, smooth ride, well-padded handle, large storage bag/basket

Cons

  • Quite a wide chassis, handle has an awkward angle, when rear facing storage area is diminished, hood makes it dark inside

The Seed Pli pushchair is an extremely well-made, sleek and stylish pushchair with a premium price tag attached to it. If you want to walk the high street and make a statement, this is the pushchair for you.

Introduced in 2009, there are very few Seed Pli pushchairs out and about but it’s a high quality piece of craftsmanship. Your child can be carried from birth in pram mode to age 3 in the pushchair.

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Seed has its roots in Scandinavian design. The design and style of the Seed Pli pushchair is one of its most impressive features. The ability of the Seed Pli to begin as a pram and grow with your child by being easily converted into a pushchair is another important feature and for a family with the right budget, it’s a sensible investment.

What we love

There is no denying that the Seed Pli is striking. The chassis is sleek, brushed steel and it folds up remarkably small considering the size when unfolded.

In pram mode, the Seed Pli seems very comfortable and secure, although with a 16 month old daughter, we didn’t use the Pli in this mode. The method for converting the Pli from pram to pushchair is relatively simple - you just pull up on two red straps near the end of the pram, which creates a seat and makes it a pushchair. The pushchair style of the Seed Pli also gives you the flexibility to place the softshell forward facing or rear (parent facing), which is very reassuring.

My daughter Ella was well supported in the pushchair seat and sat up quite high, which was wonderful for her point of view. The detachable, soft hood comes down quite low, providing more than adequate sun and wind protection. One of the more headturning features of the Pli is that its list of accessories include a ski set - if snowy locations or Alpine winter breaks or on your agenda, well, the Pli has it covered!

The Seed Pli pushchair pushes very smoothly and is a doddle to disassemble to put in the car boot. Despite my initial impressions about the size of the Seed Pli, when I collapsed it to put it in the boot, it took up no more space than our standard pushchair.

What to watch out for

Initially, I found the size of the Seed Pli pushchair to be quite large but when collapsed, it does fold down to a very manageable size. However, when unfolded the Seed Pli does take up a fair bit of space. I took my daughter Ella through a variety of shops of different sizes and found it difficult to negotiate some of the aisles, which was a bit disappointing.

The handle design of the Seed Pli is rather unique. It’s a single design with more than adequate padding but there’s a curve to it, which for me personally was rather uncomfortable.

I did enjoy the feature of having my daughter Ella facing me but when the softshell is placed in that position, you lose the storage space under it. Having the storage space in the front of the pushchair is not ideal when out in large shopping areas.

The final feature that’s difficult to ignore is the very high price tag. The RRP is £799.99 - a considerable investment for most families even if it does take your child from birth to 3 years.

Who is the Seed Pli best for?

Urban-dwelling families with a large budget seeking a stylish, statement piece.

MadeForMums verdict

The Seed Pli is an impressive pushchair with an impressive price tag. The craftsmanship is exquisite, which makes for an extremely comfortable ride and driving experience for you and your child. The size when unfolded and uniquely designed handle are two features that let the Seed Pli down, but if you’re looking for a safe, sturdy and state-of-the-art pushchair that you can use from birth, the Seed Pli can certainly answer your call.
