5 essentials for healthy family teeth
The British Dental Health Foundation is appealing to families to take care of their teeth and improve oral health
According to a survey by the British Dental Health Foundation, only 53% of parents act upon dentists' advice on how to keep their children’s teeth healthy.
This is why it’s more important than ever that families put down the fizzy drinks, pick up their toothbrushes and keep their smiles in tiptop shape.
Unfortunately, many of us still have limited knowledge of oral health. The study from the BDHF found 14% of dentists believe that inadequate brushing is the cause of cavities and the biggest threat to our tots' teeth is actualy sugary drinks (53%).
“New scientific evidence of systemic links between oral health and overall body health continues to mount. Gum disease has been linked to diabetes, strokes and pregnancy problems, so it’s vital to look after oral hygiene,” says Dr Nigel Carter from the BDHF.
In a bid to keep your smile in great shape, dentists are promoting these three easy guidelines:

1 Brush teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste
2 Visit the dentist regularly
3 Cut down on sugary snacks and drinks. And only drink fruit juice occasionally and always with a meal. Simple!
