LykiaWorld, Antalya

Having visited many regions in Turkey before, I’m familiar with it’s lush landscapes, impressive mountains, turquoise seas and plentiful sunshine, so I was more than happy to take the opportunity to visit LykiaWorld, 60 km from Antalya on the coastline of Köprüçay.

This impressive, all-inclusive mega-resort, set on a 2.5 km beach, is a family friendly ‘Tale Of Two Cities’ complex. Separated down the middle by a running stream, its ethos is to provide holiday goers the mix of two options; a fun, family adventure or a more relaxed and sumptuous retreat.

Children’s Paradise

The left section of the hotel is designed especially with children and families in mind. Bursting with a huge array of activities, highlights include: children’s own indoor and outdoor pools with five water slides; kids clubs for all ages; a theatre; cinema and even bowling allies.

Each kid’s club has an individual activity programme tailored to its specific age range, from Baby Club and Tweeters (6-36 mths) right up to Boomerang Club (13-16yrs). Full daily programmes include fun activities like kite flying, pizza making, sports, arts, discos, film clubs and much more. Kids even have their own restaurant, ‘Lykie’, for a sense of true independence.
For little sports fanatics, the Junior Golf Academy (open June 2010) and aclaimed Tennis Centre offers a number of teaching programmes and tournaments aimed to build confidence, enjoyment and skill.

Grown Up Fun

On the other side of the ‘stream’ a multitude of luxurious facilities await the more mature guest. Divided into ‘zones’ each sector caters for various tastes and moods. Just some of the zones include shops, a relaxation pool, a Zen garden for yoga, Tai Chi and meditation and a Creative Area for guided lessons on cooking, dance and painting.

Mums and dads alike will love the tranquillity of Sanitas Spa and Wellness Centre. It’s popular around teatime as guests come in from the beach for a treat before dinner. There are plenty of (quite pricey) treatments to choose from including a Turkish Bath in the authentic stone Hammans. Or let off some steam in the (child free) Japanese pool and sauna/steam rooms.

Leisure Time

LykiaWorld is very proud of its ‘piece de resistance’ – a breathtaking 18-hole Links Golf course that resides beautifully between the Mediterranean and rolling Toros mountains. The bustling club is busy daily with golf enthusiasts from many countries. Even if it’s not your sport it’s still worth a visit for coffee or a light bite (not included in the all-inclusive tariff) to enjoy the stunning view. Being a golf novice myself, I was treated to a lesson. This consisted of an enjoyable hour on the driving range with the club pro during the early evening sun. Other sports facilities include tennis and water-sports centres.
