Revealed: the 20 best place to bring up a family in England and Wales

Childcare, schools, safety and house prices are all considered: has your town made the list?

Financial firm OneFamily has published its annual report revealing the best places to live in England and Wales (sorry – Scotland’s not been included – yet…) based on factors like education, house prices, green spots and safety.

And the winners are…

  1. Wokingham, Berkshire
  2. Winscombe, Somerset
  3. Faringdon, Oxfordshire
  4. Oakham, Rutland
  5. Lower Earley, Berkshire
  6. Longridge, Lancashire
  7. Shebbear, Devon
  8. St Bees, Cumbria
  9. Middlewich, Cheshire
  10. Cheadle, Staffordshire
  11. Carterton, Oxfordshire
  12. Cullompton, Devon
  13. Clitheroe, Lancashire
  14. Crediton, Devon
  15. Fleet, Hampshire
  16. Colyton, Devon
  17. Bury, Lancashire
  18. Shotley Gate, Suffolk
  19. Driffield, Yorkshire
  20. Burscough, Lancashire

The top towns have changed quite a bit since last year’s report, with only seven that were there last year still there this year. Wokingham made top place for the second time in a row, for its fab GCSE results and a £5,000 higher than average salary. (If you want to see where your town ranks, be sure to check out the OneFamily calculator.)
