Butternut squash and banana puree

Experiment with different flavours for this easy puree recipe, suitable for a baby's first solid food

- 1 whole butternut squash
- 1 whole ripe banana

Method

Step 1
Prick the whole butternut squash all over with a fork, wrap in foil and place on a baking tray. Bake in the oven at 180C/350F/Gas mark 4, for 1 hour.

Step 2
Remove the squash from the oven and leave to cool. Cut in half, scrape out the seeds and scoop out the flesh.

Step 3
Place the flesh in a bowl with the chopped banana and mash together.
- Experiment with different flavours, for example sweet potato.
