• 2tbsp Olive oil
  • 500g Minced beef
  • 500g Pasta
  • 200g Tomato purée
  • 400g Tinned tomatoes
  • 350g Ricotta or cream cheese
  • 1 Onion, diced
  • 1 Clove of garlic, crushed
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 2tbsp Mixed herbs
  • 60g Breadcrumbs
  • 150g Cheddar cheese, grated


  • STEP 1

    Heat the onion and garlic with the olive oil in a pan until soft, add the mince and cook until browned.

  • STEP 2

    Add the tomato puree and stir through well before adding the chopped tomatoes, bay leaves and herbs.

  • STEP 3

    Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

  • STEP 4

    Cook the pasta according to the instructions then add to the pan along with the ricotta or cream cheese.

  • STEP 5

    Mix thoroughly and cook for a further 10 minutes before pouring into a baking dish.

  • STEP 6

    Top with grated cheese and breadcrumbs and bake at 180C/350F/Gas mark 4 for 25-30 minutes.
