Are Prince William and Kate Middleton having a baby?

The Royal couple spark baby rumours after saving the top tier of their wedding cake for the christening of their first child

Newlyweds Prince William and Kate Middleton could have been planning to start a family as early as their wedding day, according to internet gossip. It has been revealed that the couple have kept the top two tiers of their 17-tiered wedding cake masterpiece.

“As is tradition, the Duke and Duchess have kept the top two tiers,” said Fiona Cairns, the Leicestershire-based royal wedding cake designer.

The rest of the traditional fruitcake was served at the Royal wedding reception, after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge cut the cake with a sword.

The 17-tiered masterpiece was covered in cream and white icing, with nearly 1000 delicate sugar-paste flowers used as decoration. “We were told by the Duchess that lily of the valley was particularly important, it means sweetness and humility,” Fiona said. “They were used in her bouquet, the dress, on top of the cake and fresh ones were in the Abbey.”

“Saving the top tier to celebrate the birth of the first born is the tradition,” said Miranda Eason, editor of You & Your Wedding magazine.

So does this mean there is a baby announcement on the horizon?

“Couples are also saving [the top tiers of the cake] for their first anniversary to crack open with a bottle of bubbly,” Miranda added.

With rumours speculating around the world, MFM had a go at creating what the future heir just might look like. Even Kate’s new friend, Victoria Beckham has added fuel to the rumours, after supposedly giving her pregnancy advice.
