With the news that Benedict Cumberbatch and his fiancée Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child, we’re now going to have to completely revaluate what celebrity baby we’re most looking forward to being born in 2015. The Cumberbaby or the second Royal baby?
It’s been confirmed that we can expect the arrival of Prince George’s little brother or sister in April 2015. There’s no word yet on the due date of Benedict’s baby, but the couple are preparing to wed in early spring, so we suspect it may be around the same time.
They’ve just got so much in common we honestly can’t call it. So there’s only one way to decide. It’s a baby face-off…
Baby name guessing game
If the second royal baby is a girl, speculation is rife that Wills and Kate will want to name her Elizabeth Diana Windsor. “Close friends to William and Kate have told me that if it is a girl they want to name the baby after Diana,” royal biographer Andrew Morton told The Sun on Sunday. “They discussed girls’ names before George was born and now they’re hoping the next one is a girl so they can carry out their wish to honour William’s mother.”
Meanwhile, bets are already being taken on what the Cumberbaby will be called and the list is topped with traditional and rather royal-sounding names. Currently at the top of the list are Katharine, Charles and Henry, all with 10/1 odds. The outsider choice is Bumbercatch – but we doubt the parents would be so cruel as to name their firstborn Bumbercatch Cumberbatch!
The royal baby-to-be’s older brother Prince George is so expressive that his pictures have inspired countless memes. Our favourite is the grumpy prince pulling a face with the caption ‘Peasants’.
Equally, the Cumberbaby’s dad-to-be has inspired some pretty funny memes himself with his amazing range of facial expressions. Most memorable is the series comparing Benedict to an otter. We expect his baby to achieve equal meme fame when the time is right.
Prince George is undeniably cute. Especially in his old-fashioned wardrobe of cardigans and shorts with knee-high socks. And we expect his younger sibling will have their hair combed into a side parting and be wearing George’s hand-me-down dungarees in no time.
Of course, we have no older sibling to base this on, but the Cumberbaby will have the sharpest cheekbones of any baby ever. Hopefully he or she will inherit dad’s suave sense of style too.
