DIY sperm count kit could be on the way

Good news for trying-to-conceive couples, a home testing kit might be in the works


A reliable DIY sperm count testing kit to do at home could soon be hitting the market.


Dutch scientists have developed a small device containing an electronic chip that can count the spermatozoa as they move through a mircochannel, giving the tester a result in seconds.


Although further research is needed to see if sperm quality and mobility can be measured in a similar way, the findings could bring us one step closer to a DIY test for sperm counting.
