Family fun at British Food Fortnight

It is food galore with festivals, Olympic school meals and budget tips

There is fun for all the family as the British Food Fortnight celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Food festivals are taking place nationwide with something for all ages.

The Hairy Bikers, not as scary as they sound, are patrolling the nation’s schools with 9,000 volunteers to help teach children how to cook. All UK schools are invited to design a meal for the 2012 Olympics. The winning menu will be presented to the athletes, perhaps spurring them onto a gold medal.

If you’re London based, St Paul’s Cathedral will be hosting a harvest swap shop just in time for Harvest Festival. And if you need to tighten your purse strings, budget food tips are being offered at various Sure Start children’s centres around the country.
