Blake Lively is well known for her trademark blonde locks, but since announcing her pregnancy, the actress has been showing her dark roots. This has sparked speculation that she’s chosen to stop colouring her hair due to the chemicals in hair dye.

"Most likely, Blake Lively is super cautious about any chemicals going on her body," New York hair colourist Dana Ionato told Yahoo Beauty.

Although only limited research has been done, scientific evidence suggests that dyeing or bleaching your hair during pregnancy is safe during pregnancy. The NHS confirms that chemicals in permanent and semi-permanent hair dyes are not highly toxic.

But as the 27-year-old is forgoing her signature look, it seems she’s consciously shunning chemicals during her pregnancy. Blake is known for her boho chic style and love of organic foods, so we’re not surprised she’s now taking an all-natural approach to her hair.

The actress married husband Ryan Reynolds 2 years ago and is pregnant with their first child.
