At this time of year, whenever a child sees an older gentleman with a big white beard, they can’t help but wonder… is that Father Christmas?!
So you can’t blame a little boy for blurting out: “OMG it’s Santa!” when he came face to face with this man at a Tim Hortons doughnut shop in Canada.
But jolly St Nick didn’t miss a beat.
“Have you sent your letter to me yet?” he asked.
“No, I’ll be doing it tonight,” the boy replied.
“You better be nice to your mum and sister because I’m watching,” Father Christmas said, before saying goodbye because he “had to get back to the North Pole to finish the toys with the elves”.
A man waiting in the queue witnessed the whole exchange and shared the story on Facebook. “My faith in humanity has been restored on a Monday morning,” Mark Hurson wrote.
“Walked into Tim Hortons in Fergus Ontario and this little boy (maybe 4-5) saw this older gentleman and just stopped and looked at him in awe. Omg its Santa!
“The older gent looked down and smiled and asked him if he sent his letter into him yet? The boy said no and he would be doing it tonight.
“He said you better be nice to your mom and sister because I’m watching. He then said goodbye and was going back to the North Pole to finish the toys with the elves.
“Everyone in the restaurant was a bit teary eyed! (Including me!). There are some great people left in the world. #santarocks!!!”
Since posting the picture, it’s been shared over 18,000 times.
“In the midst of all the anger as of late around the world, this is a beautiful reprieve from it,” one user commented. Another added: “I think that this story is so great, it brought a big smile to my face and a tear to my eye!”
