Mariah Carey has lost 70lb since giving birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe, and says that she has shed the pounds for health reasons.
The singer, who gave birth just six months ago, has used the Jenny Craig diet to lose weight. It is only fitting then that she has recently become the new ambassador for Jenny’s diet regime.
Mariah gained what she calls “an enormous” amount of weight during her difficult pregnancy. “I had a really tough pregnancy. I was supposed to be on bed rest, but it was so bad that it even hurt in bed,” she told US Weekly magazine.
“I gained an enormous amount of weight. I was scared I was never going to walk again,” she said.
“I feel incredible but it was a long road,” said Mariah. “Being pregnant felt longer than it was. It was a huge blessing to be able to have the babies but I felt trapped in my body because I couldn’t move,” she explained.
“At the beginning, I was breastfeeding, so I had to eat more that I normally would. It was frustrating,” she said.
“Losing weight is about eating what you like, just in the appropriate portion sizes,” Mariah explained.
Mariah’s reportedly been eating calorie controlled meals, doing gentle exercise and, rather than constantly weighing herself, she has been judging her progress on how her clothes fit her.
“The whole point of this is not just like: ‘Oh, hey, look at me and my weight loss, I’m fantastic.’ It’s really health,” she said.
