Hospital staff in Coventry are using Twitter to give the public a behind-the-scenes glimpse of a month in the life of their maternity ward during March.
The busy ward has organised a tweet-a-thon that could rival an episode of One Born Every Minute, live-tweeting the amazing stories of mums and dads, and the midwives and hospital staff who bring their babies into the world.
Under the hashtag #maternitymarch, parents are also getting involved, tweeting photos of newborns delivered on the ward. Local mums-to-be are also keeping an eye on what’s going on in the hospital they’ll be giving birth in.
New dad Stuart King tweeted a pic of his new arrival, saying, “This is Lloyd born Monday night. Big thanks to Sam and Libby the midwives #MaternityMarch.”
Staff manning the Twitter have been posting pics of ‘hospital art’, revealing what the doctors and nurses are up to during the day and celebrating new babies born and new families heading home. They’ve also revealed some of the state of the art equipment and processes the ward uses every day.
You can check out the team’s tweets every weekday between 9am and 5pm by following @nhsuhcw. Plus keep an eye on the hashtag for more news from everyone else involved, from doctors to newborns. What a fab idea!
