Mum breastfeeds live on TV: shock, horror – really?
Dil Wickremasinghe got both positive and negative attention for breastfeeding her baby on daytime TV

When Dil Wickremasinghe appeared on talk show Midday in Ireland, she brought her 11-week-old son with her and breastfed him live on air. While the journalist and TV personality discussed attachment parenting on TV3's panel-style show, host Elaine Crowley says the baby is "feeding away quite happily over there."
Dil jokes: "let's just hope my nipple doesn't make an appearance."
During the show, Dil explained how she struggled with breastfeeding in the beginning because Phoenix was born with tongue-tie. But after 11 weeks, she finds breastfeeding a joy and often watches Netflix while feeding her son.
The host Elaine added: "It's lovely to be able to do what you're doing now. A lot of parents aren't that lucky to have that luxury – to come in to Midday and feed your baby while you're chatting away."
But while both the mum herself and host of the show were comfortable with Dil breastfeeding while she chatted, after her appearance, viewers had a mixed reaction.
Are we not over the breastfeeding in public debate yet? Is breastfeeding live on TV really a step too far? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
