Mum wins right to use her dead son’s sperm
A woman is to use a surrogate to fulfil her murdered son’s wish to become a father
Marissa Evans, from Texas, US, has been granted permission by the courts to use her murdered son’s sperm to become a grandmother.
Nikolas was killed after he suffered a brain injury when he attempted to break up a fight outside a nightclub in 2009.
Marissa has decided to go ahead despite the controversy because “the weekend before he died we were talking about what a great dad he would be.”
Nickolas' mother asked for his sperm to be frozen just before his life support machine was switched off following five days in intensive care.
“I know I am definitely doing the right thing. Nikolas told me he wanted three sons called Hunter- after his favourite author Hunter S. Thompson – Tod and Van,” says Marissa, “he had other dreams too. I am making only one of these dreams that I can come true.”
