Myleene Klass vs Victoria Beckham: the child modelling debate
Myleene Klass says Posh should let her children ‘be kids’ and says she won't thrust own offspring into the limelight
Musician and media personality Myleene Klass has made it clear she’s unimpressed with Victoria and David Beckham’s decision to let their son Brooklyn model on the cover of a fashion magazine.
The 15 year old makes his modelling debut on the Spring/Summer 2014 cover of Man About Town.
Starting modelling careers early is running in the family as his younger brother Romeo, 11, modelled for a Burberry campaign last year.
Now New! magazine is reporting that Myleene, who is mum to Ava, 6, and 3-year-old Hero, said the Beckhams should let their children ‘be kids’ and not encourage them to model.
The Loose Women presenter said: “Why would you put them on the front line where they are going to get attacked?
“They're still kids – let them be kids.”
She added: “I personally wouldn't let my child [be a model]. But… they're the Beckhams. They've got a force-field around them where everyone can look after them.
“Your average Joe would get a barrage of trolls, comments and critiques.”
Man About Town's editor Ben Reardon said he was very impressed with Brooklyn, 15.
He said: “We could not have wished for a stronger subject… he was a diligent, relaxed cover star for his first-ever cover shoot.”
