New Look sets 80s tone for Spring/Summer 2012

MFM stopped by New Look’s S/S 2012 event where colour pop jeans, slogan tees and loose fitting knits gave the collection a funky 80s vibe

New Look’s definitely got love for you if you were born in the 80s! Once we manage to put our mittens away and back away from the thermals, girls aged 9 to 15 will be able to celebrate summer 2012 in a burst of fashionable colour.

The bright colours, soft fabrics and the laid back all-American feel to New Look’s latest collection are ideal for Spring/Summer 2012. Even Kelly Brook was there showing off her fabulous figure in some gorgeous New Look heels – we can’t wait to get our hands on those next year!

The brightly lit venue was filled with statement pieces for girls – lots of the separates, like brightly patterned jeans and pastel coloured shoes, are actually quite similar to the women’s range.

It seemed like the collection, called Generation 915, designed for girls aged 9 to15, was quite focused on girls at the older end of the scale. A few pieces were a little revealing for 9-year-olds. Cut out backs, sheer shirts and lacey tops are probably best left to the teenagers. Layering looks set to be a big trend though, so a couple of these pieces together would be very trendy and a bit more age appropriate. In fact, we’re a little concerned our kids will end up looking better than us!
