Patrick Kielty on being a new dad: 'It's a bit of a shock, but it's the real world'

It’s been a busy few months for Patrick Kielty.
He’s a new dad - having welcomed his son Milo with Cat Deeley just a few months ago - and he’s taken on a new job.
The Irish TV presenter popped into This Morning on Tuesday to talk about his new quiz show, Debatable, and revealed all about life with his little one.
45-year-old Patrick was asked by host Eamonn Holmes what it was like becoming a dad ‘later on’ in life:
“Someone once told me the great thing about being a dad late in life is that you’re getting up twice to pee in the night anyway,” he joked.

“It’s worked out OK. It’s been a bit of a shock, but it’s the real world, isn’t it?
“Milo’s now 7 months, so he’s almost looking after himself, which is good."
Don't they all ?
Co-host Ruth Langsford certainly reckoned not, and was quick to ask: is Patrick a hands-on dad?
“I’m doing all of [the parenting duties] – all the poop and the nappies, and the bottles and all of that stuff,” he replied.
He previously said he'd hoped his and Cat’s children would have his Irish accent (and Cat’s good looks).
But as Ruth and Eamonn pointed out, little Milo will likely grow up with an American accent, given that Patrick and Cat live in Los Angeles.
“Oh, don’t say that, don’t say that,” he sighed.
Fellow TV presenter Cat and Patrick have been friends for years, but first got together in 2012. The story of how they eventually became a couple is actually really, really sweet.
But does he think they should’ve given romance a chance earlier on in their friendship? Perhaps had a few older siblings for Milo running around already?
“I think all things came at the right time,” he admitted. “I’m not sure that we would’ve been together if we’d got together at the start.”
The private couple have been sharing the odd tidbit about their life as parents recently. After keeping it rather hushed, Cat revealed Milo's name with this trend-setting gold name necklace during a recent red carpet appearance.
And then, just last week, Cat shared this adorable picture of baby Milo (with his face not showing) to her 211k followers...
“Excitement has reached fever pitch here in the Kielty household!!! Soho Home goodies have arrived!!! #sohohouse @anderson_markus ❤️❤️” she wrote beside the snap.
Glad the happy couple are enjoying life as new parents ?
