Penelope Cruz has finally confirmed reports she’s pregnant with her second child.
The actress revealed her pregnancy through her publicist, who said she was “extremely happy and very excited” about the news, according to The Daily Mail.
The 38-year-old’s happy news explained her decision not to travel to Spain for an awards ceremony on February 17.
Penelope is nominated for Best Leading Actress at the Goya awards in Spain and because of her condition didn’t want to take a long haul flight, her publicist reportedly said.
It will be the second child for Penelope and her actor husband Javier Bardem, who are already parents to two-year-old Leo.
Speculation has been rife over the past few weeks that Penelope is expecting again, and now that she’s confirmed the news it’s double joy for the Cruz family, as Penelope’s sister Monica is also expecting a little one of her own.
Monica announced her happy news in a blog post that detailed her decision to turn to artificial insemination and an anonymous sperm donor to get pregnant because she was worried she would not meet the man of her dreams in time to start a family.
Aw, Penelope and Monica can enjoy sharing their pregnancy journeys with each other!
