Post-40 celeb mamas
At 41 years of age in 2008 Halle Berry joined the mums-over-40 gang giving birth to Nahla Ariela Aubry. Cheeky Nahla has previously shown how keen she was to see mum Halle add to her post-40 brood, after hinting she wanted a baby sister. Nahla may just have got her wish after Halle, now 46, recently revealed she’s expecting again.
Although there have been rumours Halle and partner Olivier Martinez are expecting a boy, the star told CNN: “I don’t know, I don’t know. But [the baby is] healthy.”
Halle added, “This has been the biggest suprise of my life, to tell you the truth. Thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it’s been a bg surprise and the most wonderful.”
We take a look at the celebrity mums that have taken the post-40 parenting plunge…
Nicole Kidman and second hubby Keith Urban have had two babies since Nicole turned 40. Nicole gave birth to their first daughter Sunday Rose in 2008 when Nicole was 41. They then celebrated the arrival of their second daughter Faith Margaret in 2010, by surrogate.
Kate Garraway spoke out about her desire to have another baby. At 45, Kate talked openly about her awareness of the risks of getting pregnant again. Yet, she just can’t shift that urge to have one last parenting hoorah.
Just shy of her 41st birthday, Amanda Holden gave birth to her second daughter with husband Chris Hughes. After a dramatic birth, the happy couple named her Hollie Rose Hughes.
Actress Uma Thurman celebrated the arrival of her first baby just this year. This 41-year-old has yet to announce her baby’s name, although she was spotted out and about soon after giving birth.
Madonna might be known for her outlandish stage shows, but just before her 42nd birthday, the singing sensation was busy giving birth to son Rocco. It’s previously been reported that Madonna’s keen to have more children and could consider a post-50 baby, too.
At 42 Mariah wasn’t quite ready for slippers and a cosy cup of tea (we’re not sure she ever will!). Instead, the starlet welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe. Plus, Mariah launched websites Dembabies.com so we could enjoy her parenting journey with her. Go, Mariah!
After six rounds of IVF, singer Celine Dion gave birth to twins Eddy and Nelson. At 42, Celine bagged herself a spot in the over-40s mum club.
Jennifer Garner only just entered the frame, giving birth to her son Samuel at 40. Samuel is Jennifer and Ben Affleck’s third child and first son.
Jennifer Connelly is another sprightly mum in the group, giving birth to daughter Agnes Lark at 40 years of age. Agnes is the actress’ third baby, the second with her Brit actor husband Paul Betthany.
