Sandra Bullock adopts daughter and talks about ‘nutty’ family

The Miss Congeniality actress is now mum to 2 adopted children

Sandra Bullock has adopted a 2nd child. The 51-year-old actress has adopted a girl – 3-and-a-half-year-old daughter Laila (pronounced Lila).

Laila is from Louisiana and had been in foster care.

“When I look at Laila, there’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here,” she told People.

“I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time,” she adds.

Sandra adopted her son Louis, now 5, in 2010. She said the process of adopting her second child began in 2012 – encouraged by her son.

“Louis spearheaded this whole journey,” she said.

But while the two siblings have already bonded, Sandra says the first stages of bringing Laila home were difficult.

“I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren’t going anywhere,” she says.

Now her 1st daughter has brought “pink and glitter in the house mixed with Legos and Batmans”.

Sandra hopes talking about her adoption will raise awareness of the 415,129 children currently in foster care in the US. “My family is blended and diverse, nutty, and loving and understanding,” she says. “That’s a family.”
