Newspapers are claiming that Simon Cowell is expecting a baby with 36-year-old New Yorker, Lauren Silverman.
She is 10-weeks-pregnant, according to US Weekly, and now officially separated from her husband, real estate executive Andrew Silverman. Simon, 53, and the Silvermans holidayed in St Barths last winter.
According to the Sunday People, the baby was concieved on the night of the Britain’s Got Talent final. Lauren flew in from America to see the show and stayed at his house in Holland Park, London, after it. She reportedly told friends “that’s when the magic happened”.
Simon’s rep refused to comment on the pregnancy, but his mother, 87, told the Sun: “I haven’t heard anything officially, but if it’s true I’m absolutely delighted. It’s wonderful!”
Outspoken as ever, he has changed his mind in recent years about having a family. When he split from fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy last year, he said he couldn’t think of “anything worse than being in an unhappy marriage”.
In April 2013, according to the MailOnline, he said: “I haven’t ruled [having children] out. If I knew I could be – how do I put this delicately – faithful, I would. I do like kids, I’m just not sure I’d be any good for the first six months. I don’t think I’d adopt because I’d rather have my own. I’d have to say I’d like a little girl.”
If the reports turn out to be real, he might get his wish.
His celebrity friends have tweeted about the news. David Walliams said: “Oh yeah, and @SimonCowell is doing a baby with a lady.”
