After heading to the world’s largest baby and child fair in Germany last week, we here at MFM have so much gossip to share! The fair, known as Kind + Jugend, is where 800 companies from 40 countries show what they’ve got planned for the coming year or two. While some products are so new we’ve been sworn to secrecy, there’s plenty we can tell you about.

This is what will be hot in the nursery gear arena next year, but we’ve also got the buggy sneak previews and car seat and home safety gossip for you.

BabyDan

BabyDan, that name you might associate with safety gates, has done itself proud with its newest product. Called the Angel, it’s a crib, sitter (like a baby chair) and highchair in one – or “Angel Nest”, “Angel Rest” and “Angel Feast”. With clean and simple lines, it looks modern. Its shape-shifting abilities mean it can work from birth through the toddler years with grace – we’ve been told just one single motion lets you click on and off the components. The Angel won’t be in the UK until next year – probably closer to the middle or end of 2011.

When MFM heard about it, we couldn’t help but think of the Hauck i’coo Grow With Me 1-2-3 bassinet, bouncer and highchair. We can’t wait to try it out and see if it offers more than Hauck’s take on the 3-in-1. The Angel won an Innovation Award at this year’s show, in the “World of Baby Furniture” category, so we have high expectations!

Phil and Teds

Phil and Teds has already won the hearts of many with its traveller travel cot, but now there’s a nifty travel bassinette coming our way called the Nest. Most impressive about this flat-collapsing cot is that you can use it to carry baby gear in, too. We might see it as early as this winter  – and if you’re travelling with a newborn around Christmas time, you’ll be as eager as we are to see this!

Phil and Teds has also just launched two back carriers – these newbies we’re currently testing right now. Their names are Metro and Escape – stay tuned for scores.

Hauck

Hauck will also do a back carrier with a frame, the Explorer. This is a first for Hauck, which previously only had the 3-way baby carrier to its name.

Chicco

Chicco seems to be taking a new direction with its styling, and MFM can report that things are looking good! The i-feel is just one of the many items Chicco will roll out in 2011, and this rocker seems to draw style inspiration from Concord’s Rio rocker. It has some great features we’re keen to try. The i-sit highchair also caught our eye – it looks chic and modern, and the way it can work as a highchair and then grow with your tot is smart.

Tomy

Well known for its digital monitors, Tomy is bringing out a range of seriously compact digital monitors, which are ideal for popping in your bag when you’re travelling around or need an extra monitor for grandparents.

BEABA

Expect to see a lot more of funky French children’s brand BEABA in the shops next year. Best known for its Babycook food blender and processor, it’s set to release a range of v chic feeding equipment from Spring next year, including bottles, highchairs, booster seats and an amazingly innovative feeding spoon which rotates so your baby can never turn the bowl bit of the spoon upside down!

Silver Cross

Enjoying great success with its stylish Surf buggy and proving the nation’s favourite with its 3D pram system, Silver Cross is now turning its sights on gorgeous and great value nursery furniture for next Spring. We saw a sneak preview of a stunning cot, wardrobe and changing table set, built to last for years and yet at a great price. Plus, it will be delivered and built for you in your home – you just need to add your baby! Meanwhile, following last year’s launch of Silver Cross nursery toys, watch out for a gorgeous new range of ducks, boats and riverbank cuddly toys, which will appeal to both babies and toddlers (and parents!).
