There’s no doubt about it – baby showers most definitely aren’t just for the ladies these days: John Legend was spotted at wife Chrissy Teigen’s ‘do’ and there’s even a name for baby showers for blokes: dadchelor parties.
But clearly the commanding officer of this US Army soldier didn’t get the memo, and denied his colleague leave on the grounds that: MEN DON’T GO TO BABY SHOWERS’. Huh?!
The soldier rewrote his reason for wanting time off, including things he thought his leader might approve of a bit more:
The second request said:
“Going home to the Appalachian mountains to drink whiskey, wrestle bears, and shoot lots of guns.
“I also plan to grow out a beard, chop down a hundred trees with my axes and eat 10lb of thick cut bacon with my wife, who I plan to have lots of unprotected sex with, because I am a man and that’s just what we do. Football.”
The note’s had a bit of a mixed reaction after being posted on Imgur.
“To be fair, I didn’t think men went to baby showers either (I’m not invited to the baby shower for my own firstborn next month),” wrote one person.
Another quipped: “I would rather stick forks in my eyes than go to a baby shower.”
And a fair few wondered whether the form was even real:
“Fake as hell, why aren’t any of the other boxes filled out??”
Whatever the story, we don’t know if the soldier was granted leave after his second submission – but fingers crossed, eh? ?
