Choosing your baby's name is a very personal decision - but it's also a pretty huge one.

And while we love a good quirky celeb name - just like these ones picked by Supernatural star Jensen Ackles - we can totally understand why extreme baby names (and we mean extreme) require a bit of policing.

The Australian state of Victoria has done just that - releasing a list of 46 names that are banned across the state, after parents had tried to use them.

They're mostly religious, regal or military titles - as well as names of national significance.

Here's the full list:

  • Admiral
  • Anzac
  • Australia
  • Baron
  • Bishop
  • Brigadier
  • Brother
  • Cadet
  • Captain
  • Chief
  • Christ
  • Commodore
  • Constable
  • Corporal
  • Dame
  • Duke
  • Emperor
  • Father
  • General
  • God
  • Honour
  • Judge
  • Justice

In 2015, a list of baby names banned across the whole of Australia was also released by the government.

And, if we're being honest, it's understandable why most (if not all) of the names on this particular list were outlawed.

The baby names banned in Australia:

  • Bonghead
  • Chow Tow
  • D***head
  • G-Bang
  • Ikea
  • iMac
  • Maryjuana
  • Medicare
  • Ned Kelly
  • Panties
  • Ranga (slang word for 'redhead')
  • Scrotum
  • S***head
  • Smelly
  • Snort
  • Thong
  • Virgin

We'll let this list speak for itself!

Have your say

Are there any other names you reckon should be banned by law? Or do you think it's not right for the government to ban any baby names?
