Ok, ok, so Prince George and Princess Charlotte aren’t getting a baby brother or sister. But they can look forward to a new distant cousin next year, as Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden have announced they’re expecting their first child in April.
“We are so happy and excited to announce that we are expecting our first child,” the royal couple announced on Facebook. “We are very much looking forward to it.”
The ridiculously good couple (whose wedding pictures we can’t stop stalking) got married in June. Carl-Philip, 36, is the second child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. He married former glamour model Sofia Hellqvist, 30.
Needless to say, when the couple first started dating 5 years ago, Sofia’s glamour modelling past was considered quite controversial. But the mum-to-be has toned down her image considerably since then and been welcomed into the family.
Princess Sofia was most recently spotted at the christening of Prince Nicolas at Drottningholm Palace Chapel in Stockholm, Sweden on Sunday. The 3-months-pregnant princess is showing no sign of a bump just yet.
The prince’s elder sister, Crown Princess Victoria, is also pregnant and due to give birth to her second child in March. So hopefully Sofia’s sister-in-law has plenty of advice – and hand-me-downs for her!
