Throwback photo captures couple's complete shock at baby's sex

Whichever way it goes, it’s life-changing, and often full of joy.

But it can totally be a bit of a shock if you have a gut feeling one way or the other… and it turns out you haven’t got what you thought.

A US-based mum named Kim Guiley captured those exact feelings on camera - and shared them on social media shortly after her now 4-month-old son Theo was born.

“Can't stop laughing at this awesome capture by our birth photographer @susannahgill_photostorytelling...” she wrote on Instagram, beside the snap.

“After a lifetime of dreaming about one of each, but months of feeling so strongly that we were having another girl, this is the moment we discovered Theo's sex!!”

Now we should probably mention that we think this pic looks staged… nevertheless, it’s still funny, and definitely sums up that feeling of ‘ahhhhh what’s going on we’ve just had a baby and it’s a boy, not a girl!’

It’s especially relevant given actress Alexa PenaVega’s very open comments about gender disappointment - how she felt she was expecting a girl, and was ‘crushed’ at first to discover she was having a boy.
