Thunderbirds set to make fab TV comeback

Children's favourite puppet show is returning to our screens after 45 years, confirms creator Gerry Anderson

The Thunderbirds are go! The show’s creator Gerry Anderson has confirmed that the classic TV show will be returning to our screens after a 45 year break.

Confirming that he has “finalised a deal to make a new series of the Thunderbirds”, the 81-year-old is hoping that the adventures on Tracy Island will appeal to the new generation – as well as recapture the old fans of the retro sci-fi puppet show.

Despite the show only making 32 episodes, the Thunderbirds became puppet heroes in the mid-1960s among both children and adults. Will it be as successful in 2011?
