Logan Donegan, almost 2, was born with his bowel growing outside his body, and didn’t get to have his first meal until he was 21 months old.
Logan suffers from gastroschisis. Spending his life so far in hospital, little Logan, from Aberbargoed in South Wales, has undergone seven operations in a bid to correct his condition. Feeding off tubes since the beginning of his life, Logan’s world has been turned around after doctors at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital embarked on a pioneering operation involving a total transplant of his intestines.
Loving his first taste of food after recovering from his operation, his mum, Rhian Donegan, 21, is thrilled to see him chomping away. He loves Marmite!
“It is fantastic to be able to feed him for the first time – he still can’t eat anything solid but he is putting on weight, which is great. He’s such a fighter,” she has said.
