CARES stands for Child Aviation Restraint System, and can be used for children from 1 to 5 years.
The idea behind CARES is that the lap belts on planes don’t give small children enough protection. Us adults can adopt the brace position in an emergency landing or handle the turbulence, but children can’t. CARES makes the lap belt into a 5-point harness, keeping your child’s upper body in place and secure.
We also hear that aviation authorities in the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Singapore and Israel have approved it.
