United Nations sends cake to world’s 7 billionth baby

For parents Camille and Florante Camacho, the birth of their little girl Danica was also the arrival of the 7 billionth person in the world!


According to the United Nations (UN), October 31 this year will go down in history as the day the world’s population reached a landmark number.


For the Camacho family, the birth of their baby girl Danica means she is now the world’s (symbolic) 7 billionth occupant.

Baby Danica was born two minutes before midnight at the Jose Fabella Hospital, Manila, the Philippines. Weighing 5lb 5oz, Danica had quite the reception as she was delivered amid an explosion of media interest.

“She looks so lovely. I can’t believe she is the world’s seven billionth,” said mum Camille.

Top UN officials in the Philippines presented baby Danica with a small cake. Hmmm, nice gesture, but we think it mightn’t be exactly what she’s after!

Danica is Camille and Florante’s second child and is one lucky baby. Wellwishers have given her a grant for her education already, plus money to help the family start a shop, reports the Guardian.
