New mum January Jones has revealed to People magazine that she’s been dining on placenta.

Mad Men star January, 34, who gave birth to son Xander last September, has been chowing down on placenta capsules and said she would recommend them to all new mums.

“I have a great doula [birth assistant] who makes sure I’m eating well, with vitamins and teas, and with placenta capsulation. Your placenta gets dehydrated and made into vitamins. It’s something I was very hesitant about, but we’re the only mammal who don’t ingest our own placentas,” January told People. “It’s not witch-crafty or anything! I suggest it to all moms!”

Perhaps the placenta pills helped keep the new mum’s energy levels up as she returned to work just six weeks after giving birth. January’s accredited her decision to head back to the Mad Men set so soon for stopping her disappearing in the “baby world.”
