New mum Erin Dietrich’s first pics with her newborn child aren’t exactly your, erm, typical after-labour snaps.
From the head down, it seems pretty standard: she’s resting in a hospital bed, holding her brand-new baby in her arms, a cuddly toy resting beside her.
But the fact that she’s wearing a (quite realistic) giraffe mask on her head is not so standard.
It’s also the reason the pic has gone viral.
At the time of writing, the above photo has been shared nearly 16,000 times, and received almost 5000 comments.
So, what’s this all about, then?
Erin, who lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, US, is actually just parodying April The Giraffe.
April’s a ready-to-pop pregnant giraffe who lives in a New York zoo, and has captured much of the world’s attention.
Millions have been tuning in to a livestream of April’s pen, as they anxiously await the arrival of a (guaranteed-to-be adorable) baby giraffe.
And the wait for April’s baby has been quite a long one for the zoo-webcam faithful.
So Erin decided to livestream her (then-very-pregnant) self on Facebook behaving just like April: slowly walking around her living room with a big bump – wearing the giraffe mask (which she says she bought on Amazon).
The funny video amassed over 30 million hits… and it’s not hard to see why!
And while Erin gave birth days after her video went viral, it seems the world is still waiting on April.
Let’s hope she gives birth soon! ?
