Having designed the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding and reception dresses, it seems only fitting that Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton would be the one to design Kate Middleton’s maternity wardrobe.

The designer, who is currently pregnant herself with twins, took creative control of the Alexander McQueen label in 2010 and yesterday was awarded an OBE to honour her services to the British fashion industry.

The 38-year-old said she “would love to” design maternity wear for Kate, according to Sky News.

“She’s incredible to work with, such a lot of fun and every minute a pleasure,” she said.

“Of course I’d love to continue designing for her, for as long as she wants me to.”

Sarah picked up her award from Kate’s father-in-law the Prince of Wales.

“It’s such lovely news. William and Kate will be amazing parents,” she said.

It sounds as if Kate, who’s known for her elegant style credentials, will be dressing her bump in nothing but the best. Here at BX HQ we can’t wait to see how Kate's maternity fashion evolves.
