My Caesarean scar is still numb

Q: I had a Caesarean four weeks ago, but the scar and the area around it is still numb. When is this sensation likely to return?

Midwifery Head Katie replies:

This is a fairly common problem after a C-section and is due to the fact that tiny nerve endings responsible for sensation have been cut with the incision.
Nerve tissue takes longer than any other body tissue to regenerate, so you may have some loss of sensation for several months, or longer.
Try not to worry though as there isn’t anything wrong. It’s just a question of being patient.
