And we've trawled the shelves to find the very best – all of them super-magical, natch.

Here's our pick of the best unicorn toys...

1. VTech Myla The Magical Make-UP Unicorn, £31.99

Vtech Myla the Magical Make-Up Unicorn

Age: 5+

More like this

What it is: A 22.9cm x 40cm stand-up unicorn whose horn lights up and whose eye make-up changes with the wave of a wand. Comes with 5 glam accessories including a butterfly, a make-up wand and a magic microphone. Need 4 AA batteries for the magic work (included).

Why we love it: Myla's got a really interesting concept behind her: your child uses their wand to choose a colour, and puts it on her light-up horn, her wings or her eyelids, and watches as it changes colour! Seems pretty magical to a little one with a love for unicorns. Even us grown-ups found it pretty amazing.

Available from: Smyths Toys

2. Micro Scooter Unicorn Head, £14.95

What it is: A plush white unicorn head with glittery horn and colourful rainbow ribbon mane which attaches to the handlebars of a scooter. Designed to fit Micro Scooter models but it also fits many other brands of scooter.

Why we love it: It's very cute, very soft and very easy to attach, with strong Velcro fastenings to keep it in place – and wow, is it a head-turner on the streets and in the park! Plus, it's machine-washable, which is always a bonus.

Available from: Micro Scooters, Kidly and Amazon

3. My Fairy Garden Unicorn Garden, £19.97

What it is: A 35cm x 27.5cm containing all your need to grow your own unicorn-themed garden. Comes with grass seeds, a bowl-like plant pot, a unicorn toy, pretend flowers, colourful mushroom, a charming well, and a host of other DIY accessories.

Why we love it: Any toy that encourages children to learn about and explore nature is a win for us. Educational, and fun too. Plus we'd say there's no more exciting reveal or surprise than actually getting to watch your very own garden grow. It's satisfying for little ones, who really get to see the results of their time, effort and care. Just lovely.
