Review: “This charming hotel, which lies in the middle of the picturesque countryside, feels like you’re a million miles away from home and provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxing escape.
“My partner and I stayed in a jaw dropping gorgeous guest room, featuring stunning decorative extras like a white, curved wooden dressing table, four-poster bed and a large, open spaced window with views across the Cheshire countryside. Presented on our bed were two crisp white robes and slippers – they even threw in two heart shaped bath soaps for good measure.
“We took a trip to the Kasia Spa, which is situated next door to the hotel, which was decked out in a distinctive Thai theme with mini waterfalls, mosaic walls and oriental decorative extras which lined the corridors. After changing into our robes and slippers, we were given a cup of refreshing Thai tea to sip on before we had our treatments.
“After being lead by our friendly guide into an Arabic themed chamber, we were left to it in the ‘Rasul’ booth designed especially for couples – complete with a starlight ceiling and two thrones! The steamed filled room quickly heats up and there was a range of mud and lotions for us to try, which we rubbed into each other whilst the steam opened our pores and cleansed our skin. The experience was very romantic and relaxing – it was like we were in our own little cocoon. After the 40 mins, a warm tropical shower rinses you off, leaving you feeling completely refreshed.
“We then headed to the Roman-esque swimming pool, which includes a small sauna and steam room next to the pool area. After a few lengths in the pool, we got ready for our next treatment – a ‘Maharaja Massage.’ We had the ‘couples’ suite, which meant that we had our massages in the same room. The hot oil massage, with the use of a Thai herbal compress, massaged deep into your muscle lines. You could literally feel the knots ebbing away with ever rub, although this massage might not be suitable for first time spa goers as the treatment was quite vigorous at times. Nevertheless, we left feeling great, if a little peckish, so we set off for our two-course lunch at the spa eatery.
“As part of the package, we had a delicious lunch after our treatments. The eatery is strictly a robe wearing area, so dining in our dressing gowns and slippers whilst reading copious amounts of newspapers and magazine on offer was utter bliss.
“Later on we took a trip to the Ciros restaurant for dinner. This striking Mediterranean restaurant features authentic looking décor and boasts impressive (and reasonably well priced) Italian and European dishes. We then had a tipple in the decidedly British themed Nelsons Bar – I told you this hotel had an eclectic mix!
“The next day we had breakfast and set off home feeling rejuvenated and ready for our drive home. If you’re looking for a relaxing break, which isn’t too far from home and has everything you need under one roof, the Grosvenor Pulford is definitely worth a visit.”
