Great for toddlers and preschoolers, our simple colour match game was inspired by an activity we saw on the Early Years Outdoor Instagram account.

We got a huge response when we shared the idea, so we've made an easy-downloadable 'Colour Match' printable that you can use for games round the house or take out on walks with you.

How does it work?

If you're playing Colour Match inside, walk round the room (or your house) with your child and look together for objects that match the colours on the sheet. You could either simply cross the colours off your Colour Match sheet when you find them or, for a little more excitement, cut out the colours and stick them (with sticky tape) onto the same-coloured objects you find.

If you're playing Colour Match outside, ask your child to find and collect small objects (leaves, flowers, sticks) that match the colours on the sheet. Then, once you're home, they can add or stick the objects to their corresponding colours on the sheet.
