My daughter Sophia is 11 weeks, 3 months old on Sunday. We are very concerned as she doesn't move her legs (kick like a baby her age should) or raise her head during tummy time. This aside, her development is very good ie tracking objects, making noises, smiling, feeds well etc. Are we right to be worried? Is she just being 'lazy'? Has anybody else had the same problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi jamiesophia, it doesnt sound like anything to worry about to me. Does she hold her head well while upright? Have you tried tickling the bottoms of her feet to try and get her to kick?
My dd didnt raise her head during tummy time until 5.5mths, didnt sit unaided til 7mths, first crawl was 11mths and first steps at 15mths. She's now a very healthy, stroppy two year old lol. Some babies are just very relaxed and a little late with their motor development. The fact that she's alert and aware of her surroundings and is being vocal are good signs. Keep playing with her, try holding her ankles and gently make her kick her legs while making fun noises, once she realises it's fun she may start to do it herself. Im sure theres nothing to worry about all the best xx

Children grow and pick up skills at their own pace. Tracking objects and making noises themselves show that she's progressing well. I wouldn't be alarmed. But if you're wondering, there are specialized childcare centers that help kids of all ages with their motor skills. Just do a bit of research and consult your friends.

I agree here. I don't think that this is something to get worked up over. It just sounds like babies being babies; unpredictable and different for everybody. I understand where your concern is coming from, because my baby didn't talk for the longest time and I would get real worried for him, but now he talks like a machine and it's sad to see how fast he grew up. Oh well that's what mothering is about

I will also suggest you to go to specialized childcare center .The baby is very small now so it’s better that you go and meet the doctors. It seems everything is fine but still you will also be tension free.May be she is late with her movement .Nothing to worry .All the best.
