Hi, Archie is 12 days old and we've been using Aptimal since about day 5 (also using expressed BM) He as really windy and sick for a couple of days so we've been using infacol. Although I've heard it will stop working after a wee while. Read on another post that Cow and Gate Comfort milk was good instead of Aptimal and wondered if anyone else had any advice ?
He's feeding between 3-4oz every 3-4hours but takes ages to settle and I'm assuming it's cos he's still bothered by a bit of wind and sickness.
Will it unsettle him more if I change his formula or should I just stick with Aptimal for now ? Thanks, a confused, tired and full of loads of questions new mum. Suz xx

i have heard that changing formula too much can upset babies tummies but cameron is 17 weeks and has been on breast milk, sma gold, c&g comfort and now c&g first stage and he's been fine!
i loved c&g comfort!! it was a godsend for us. to be honest i have never heard a bad review on it. i aggonised for ages over whether to try cameron on it and when i did i was so relieved. no one can make the decision for you. you could always change back to aptimil if it doesnt work for you

    Hi,
There is now an aptimal comfort formula which I have just changed to as I have the same problem with aptimal first stage. Hopefully this will work, but it will upset his stomach until he gets used to it.

    Hope this is some help.

    Hey huni,

I am b'feeding Amber but we are having the same probs as you, she gets v windy esp at night. We have started giving her cow and gate comfort at night we first used it Wed night and it is fab, she has 3oz and brought up her wind straight away and settled off to sleep - and slept 5hours straight!! I then bfed her at 4am and she suffered with wind after it and took a bit longer to settle. She seems to settle well in the day just struggles at night.

I would try him on it and see how you get on because it has worked for us and a lot of mums on here have said how good it is. He may or may not get an upset tum with it, is all just trial and error.

I find the best way to get Amber's wind up is over the shoulder and just holding her upright rubbing her back for around 10 mins after a feed, Amber was very sicky for the first few weeks (doctors called it posseting (sp) ) she has now stopped that and does it once in a while if she has been a bit greedy

    Good luck xxxx Amy

    Hi there

We have had the same issues to with Matilda, she has both breast and bottle and we started with Aptimal 1 when she was newborn (6wks old now)..but then dreaded colic symptoms started etc and the sicky stage after feeds so we changed to Aptimal easy digest (re-named comfort now), Cow & Gate and Aptimal are the same company so I think very similar in make up? (just look at the web sites and boxes etc).

The one thing I will say is that its harder to make up, you need hotter water to activate the whey based formula (not wait for it to cool.).its much thicker and we have spent a small fortune on teets to get the right one that will not block or flow too fast!....but it is much gentler on her tum as not based on cows milk but whey based.

having said that she still pukes! and i am loathed to change yet again as it takes a while for them to get used to a formula so sticking with this one for now!...also makes them extremely windy bottom end at first ..be warned..hee hee!

Good luck...its a mine field isnt it! I did notice SMA do an eay digest too that is whey based so they all seem to make one but you have to look in the larger stores not always easy to find.

Keep us posted...we all seem to be trying to find an easy one!

You could also try Hipp organic as that is gentle on sensitive tummys, I moved my little boy onto it as SMA gold was making him constipated and it has been great with him. Plus for some reason it is cheaper than the others which is a big bonus!

The only thing with comfort is it is such a thick milk Theo really struggled to get it out of a flast flowing teat, and he's got suction like a hoover! He's on Aptimal hungry baby and always brings up little bits but I think thats normal.
