On Christmas Day we usually get up have a bite to eat open presents with the boys and then pop to both sets of parents for an hour each on the morning before heading back home (we live 15 min drive from both sets). Once back home we don't leave the house.
I think I would rather stay in all day as its always a rush to open presents with the kids get ready and be out the house to hurry back. But if we didn't go we wouldn't see parents on Christmas Day.
What do you do?

My mum dad and brother come to us for the day (& boxing day too). MIL isn't with us anymore and FIL is a moody recluse so although we invite him he's always busy. Id hate to run around on xmas day unless dining out.

I usually work, so either a night shift, and early (7-4) or a late (12-9), so since L was born the ils come to ours Xmas day to open the presents they have got L, then we go and visit William, then quickly onto our next door neighbours just for a really quick brew. Then I usually go to work. We will still do all that this year but I'm not working. Then at night everuone coming to our and on Boxing Day we are going to the ils.

Christmas morning is spent at home, opening presents, letting the kids play etc, then we go to my Mums.
We have Christmas dinner there, and as my Mums house is like the family hub, extended family and friends come round. At some point, we go to my Step Dads grave too.

MrDD always says he wants to spend the whole day at home just the three of us, but it just wouldn't feel like Christmas to me - I've always seen it as a time to see my family, so we usually go to one of our parents at least for a few hours for lunch or in the evening, then see the other set on boxing day. They all came to us one year, but I broke my wrist two days before so haven't asked them again since!
I think we've finally decided we'll be going to my parents this year as MrDD's don't even know what they're going to be doing yet, might suggest to MrDD that we invite them over on Boxing day if they're not going away.

We are at home in the morning regardless of what's happening for dinner. If we are going to my parents for dinner (we take turns so do it every other year) then they pop to us in the morning with my nan and bring gifts for the kids and see them open them. Then they go home and we pop round after a couple of hours and join them and my brother and his fiancé, this year it's our turn to host so they will just come at about lunchtime, watch the kids open gifts and then the men go to the pub and come back for dinner. H's mum and stepdad live in Devon so we don't see them at Christmas, usually just before. They are coming next weekend this year. H's dad and stepmum we usually see Christmas Eve or around then. We are visiting the rest of H's family next weekend.
I wouldn't be driving around on Christmas Day, the furthest we go is a few roads away to my parents!

We used to spend Christmas with my family and then H's the following year, and so on. Having said that, even when we spent it with my family, we'd still pop in to my SILs either on the way to my mum's or on the way home.
Last year we wanted to spend Christmas on our own as it was going to be our last for a long time what with F's arrival in February
This year we're staying at home and my FIL and BIL are coming for dinner. We invited my mum, brother and uncle but long story short is that they're just popping over in the morning to see us.

We go to my parents for Christmas dinner. We usually go there from around 11 and come home 8 or 9 but this year we are going to come home earlier, around 5 so the kids can play with their presents. Pil live across the road so we fit them in for an hour.

We have made it a rule that Christmas day will always be just us. My parents did it that way too and my MIL was surprisingly understanding about this too. My family live 500miles away and H's parent's are just round the corner. We're having them over Boxing Day instead. It was way to much hassle driving around Christmas day to see family. I like a relaxed day.

Used to have a 2 hour drive on Christmas Day to get from my Mam's to the MILs but since Little Miss' arrival, we're at home, just the 3 of us.
It's a bit odd, and I was worried it would be "just another day" but it was lovely. And it's only going to get better as she grows into Christmas more.
I have a feeling from next year we may get my parents coming to us (they live 5 hours away). Can't ever see the ILs coming

We tend to go out after lunch. We visit H's grandparents, which is usually where H's family are, and then we go to my parents house for tea. This year however we're going to my sister's house for tea as her house is the biggest, and as the family is growing we need more room and my mum's house isn't big enough.

stay at home

Stay at home, our parents live over 100 miles away in opposite directions. H is working Christmas eve so we can't go anywhere if we wanted to.
I like staying at home and not rushing about.
